Medical Staff

Brad Crosswhite, M.D.: Graduated summa cum laude from David Lipscomb University in Nashville with a bachelor's degree in biology and Spanish. He received his medical training at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, where he graduated magna cum laude. He was selected chief resident while completing his residency at North Mississippi Medical Center's Family Medicine Residency Center. He was awarded the degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2013 and received three-year recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for diabetes care in 2012. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Crosswhite sees children and adults.

Frank S. Fortenberry, M.D.: Completed his medical studies at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and his internal medicine internship and residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospital. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

 

Noel Garcia, M.D.: Received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Ateneo de Davao University in the Philippines. He completed his residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Mt. Sinai Hospital Residency Program, where he was named Teaching Resident of the Year. He most recently worked at Hamilton Medical Clinic in Alabama. He is board certified in internal medicine.

 

C. Lee Greer, M.D.: Graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He completed his medical studies at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, where he was awarded the Medical Student of the Year Award at graduation, and was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society. He completed his family medicine residency at the University of Tennessee in Jackson, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his geriatric medicine fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Most recently, in 2009, he earned an MBA from Yale University. Dr. Greer specializes in geriatric medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Greer serves as the Chief Quality and Safety Officer for North Mississippi Health Services. He is a member of the American Geriatrics Society, American Medical Association, Northeast Mississippi Medical Society, Mississippi State Medical Association and the American College of Physician Executives. He is also a current member of the Board of Directors for the Institute for Quality in Healthcare.

J. Kenneth Harvey, M.D.: Received his medical training at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In 2010, Dr. Harvey received three-year recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)/American Diabetes Association (ADA) Diabetes Physician Recognition Program.

 

Dustin Markle, M.D.: Graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, where he was a Taylor Medalist. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, and completed his family medicine residency at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.

 

 

Amit Prasad, M.D.:  Completed his medical training in New Delhi, India, and his internal medicine internship and residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York, an affiliate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians.

 

 

Vernon Rayford, Pharm.D., M.D.: Earned his doctoral degree from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. He received his medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville. He completed a combined residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at Harvard Medical School-Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics and obesity medicine. Dr. Rayford sees adults and children.


Daryl Schroader, M.D.: Graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. He received his medical training at Hahneman University in Philadelphia, PA, and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Melanie Wallace, M.D.: Completed her medical studies at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and her residency in internal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is also a medical review officer. In 2010, Dr. Wallace received three-year recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)/American Diabetes Association (ADA) Diabetes Physician Recognition Program.

Erin Barnes, FNP-BC: Completed her associate degree in nursing Mississippi University for Women in Columbus. She also received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing, as well as her family nurse practitioner training, from MUW. She completed her post-master’s training in the Advanced Practice Clinician Fellowship at North Mississippi Medical Center. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Jenna Mordecai, FNP-C: Received her bachelor’s degree in 2004 from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, and her master’s degree in nursing and family nurse practitioner training from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus. She completed an advanced practice clinician fellowship at North Mississippi Medical Center. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

 

 

Bobbi Sanders, CFNP: Received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1997. In 2014 she received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson.

 

Michelle Turba, CANP: A certified adult and geriatric nurse practitioner, received her bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. She completed her master's degree in nursing and nurse practitioner training at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She is board certified by both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Heather Tyer, PA-C, MMSc, MPH: Received her bachelor of science in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her master of public health degree from Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. She also has a master of medical science in physician assistant studies from the Emory University School of Medicine. She is nationally certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants, holds an active Mississippi Physician Assistant license and is a member of the Mississippi Association of Physician Assistants.

 

Salley Williams

 

Salley Williams, NP: Received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. She is board certified by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing and as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Malinda "Mindy" Prewitt, M.D.: Received a bachelor's degree in biology from Mississippi College in Clinton and completed her medical training at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, as well as her infectious disease fellowship. Dr. Prewitt is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease Society of America, American Medical Association and Mississippi State Medical Association.

Max R. Taylor, M.D.: Completed his medical training at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and his internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he also completed a fellowship in infectious disease. Dr. Taylor is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Critical Care Medicine, American Board of Infectious Diseases, American Board of Infection Control and American Board of Clinical Microbiology.

Hospitalists

Several of IMA-Tupelo's internal medicine physicians serve as hospitalists. Their role is to serve as a physician for patients who do not have at physician on staff at NMMC.

Our clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to noon.

Appointments

Appointments may be made by calling (662) 377-5000 during office hours. Every effort will be made to provide the earliest possible appointment for the convenience of the patient. Due to the unscheduled nature of emergencies, occasional delays do occur. We hope you will understand these delays are unavoidable.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please cancel as far in advance as possible. Another patient who can be booked into the open time will be grateful for your thoughtfulness.

We now have the ability to exchange secure online correspondence with our patients and keep your information up-to-date. If you have Internet access and sign up for this service, you will have the ability to do the following at your convenience:

To access the service, you will register using a PIN (Personal Identification Number) that will be provided by our clinic staff to you in a personalized letter after a visit to our clinic. The PIN will expire in 30 days. If your PIN has expired before you access your account, please visit us in person to obtain a new PIN. To ensure patient confidentiality, we do not provide this information over the phone.
